Peaches in Elgin, OR

Peaches is a sweet, active 5-year-old Cavalier who is ready to find her forever home! She came into rescue with three other pups from a breeding situation. She has settled in beautifully with her foster family and has shown herself to be a happy, social, curious little girl with a definite Cavalier personality.

Peaches is what her foster mom calls a typical Cavalier: sweet, curious, always ready to go, and a little pushy when she wants attention! She loves people and enjoys being right in the middle of whatever is happening. She is a wonderful lap dog and if you stop petting her before she is ready, she will gently grab your hand and give you a look that clearly says, “Excuse me, I wasn’t finished!” Peaches currently sleeps in her crate with another Cavalier but she would love nothing more than to share her people’s bed at night.

At the same time, Peaches has an independent side and loves to explore. She currently lives with one of the female dogs she came into rescue with, two other Cavaliers, and two big dogs. She has made herself right at home with her foster family and enjoys the company of the other dogs.

Peaches also considers herself quite the neighborhood watch captain! Nothing gets past her window: birds, squirrels, people, you name it. She will happily announce anything she sees outside. Peaches currently lives with a kitten, but she thinks cats are meant to be chased and can become quite focused on them. Because of this, we feel she would be happiest in a home without cats.

Peaches is a very good girl who is obedient and can be trusted loose in the house when her people are away. She is fully potty trained and currently uses a doggy door. If her new home does not have one, she may simply need a little time to learn the new routine. She loves car rides, enjoys running and playing in the backyard, and would make a wonderful companion for someone who wants a dog who is happy to go along for the ride.

Peaches is a healthy weight at approximately 19 pounds. She is now spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and had a dental cleaning while in rescue.

Peaches has some mild disc changes in her thoracic spine, toward the neck. Her veterinarian has not found other signs suggesting a neurological problem. Peaches only scratches at her neck when something is placed around it, such as a collar or slip lead. Her veterinarian recommends limiting repeated jumping on and off furniture. If Peaches is allowed on tall furniture, steps or a ramp would be helpful. Her foster family is happy to provide guidance to her new family about keeping her comfortable and protecting her back as she gets older.

Peaches would love a home where someone is home much of the time and where she can be a true companion by following her people around, going places with them, and soaking up plenty of attention and affection. She would be thrilled to be someone’s full-time cuddle bug! She would do well with other friendly dogs and respectful children.

Peaches is a delightful combination of affectionate, social, curious, independent, and just a little bit bossy: the kind of Cavalier who will happily become your constant companion and make sure you know when it is time for more petting!
