Percy in Westfield, IN

Meet Percy! A sweet, cuddly, healthy 5-year old Black & Tan Cavalier born 03/20/19. Percy came to Cavalier Rescue USA from a breeder. He was severely matted and sadly shaved down but has a beautiful black, shiny coat. Percy is now neutered, had a dental, is microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives and is ready for his lucky forever family.

Percy is such a cuddle bug. His favorite time is snuggling up with his people on the couch. He will happily lay by you for hours and welcomes all belly rubs. He is very food motivated and would do well in formal obedience training. When treats are involved you will have his full attention! Although he’s 5 yrs old many things are new and he is very much a puppy. He likes to explore and put things in his mouth so a variety of chew toys is recommended. He does listen very well and responds to a gentle “no” quickly . He wants to understand and is so eager to please.

He is crate trained but prefers to sleep snuggled up with the resident Cavaliers in their bed. With a consistent schedule, Percy is reliably house trained. He keeps a close eye on his foster mom for security and will follow her everywhere but is slowly gaining confidence with the help of his two Cavalier buddies. Another pup would be important in his new family.

Percy’s playful side is coming out and he loves toys. He’ll prance around tossing his toy in the air and storing them in his crate as his own private collection. He loves to play ball and freely explore outside so a physical fenced yard is a must. Percy loves going on walks, enjoying all the new smells and things to see. He is interested in people, kids and other dogs on his walks but walking nicely on lead is a work in progress. He rides well in the car in a car seat.

Percy has quickly adjusted to the life of a pampered pup. Upon coming into rescue, he would cower when being picked up but is slowly learning that being held and loved is not scary. He’s timid around new people and seems to prefer women although if a male has food he’s right there! Since he is skittish, kids 10 yrs and older would be best in his new home. He has not been tested with cats so that’s an unknown.

Percy’s foster mom says his tail is always wagging and he soaks up all the love he can get. His new family will be lucky to bring this sweet boy into their family.
