Pumpkin in Easton, PA
Pumpkin is a big fluffy 2 year old Ruby male Cavalier. When his owner’s situation changed and she was unable to give him the care that he needed, she reached out to rescue for assistance.

Pumpkin has adjusted well to his quiet foster home. He’s a bit socially challenged and prefers to hang out on the couch near his people. Pumpkin walks well on a leash, but really doesn’t enjoy going for a walk. He is taken out on an occasional walk to maintain walking skills. A well fitting harness is suggested, as new sounds and experiences can frighten him, so he needs to be secure. It can be a bit of a challenge to harness him up, but with a bit of patience, it can be done.

Pumpkin has had zero accidents in his foster home, however he will need a patient person to stay in the yard with him until he gets comfortable with his surroundings. He requires you to keep him company while he wanders in the yard. If you leave him alone in the yard, he will hang by the door until let in, and will not have done his business. He will require a fenced yard and a patient owner. No quick hurried potty time for Pumpkin! He will signal when he needs to go out, but he is taken out frequently and he will go out as he gets a tiny treat when coming in.

Pumpkin does well with dogs while on walks or at the vet. We have an outside feral cat that he seems to want to be friends. He is in foster care as an only dog but we think he would be okay with another calm dog in the house as well.

Pumpkin eats well, and you must resist overfeeding him, as he loves to eat! He can be a little beggar, but will give up, if ignored. Pumpkin is a long and tall boy for a Cavalier, weighing in at 33 pounds. He does need to lose a few pounds to get to his ideal weight.
Pumpkin is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and is microchipped. He has an umbilical hernia, grade 2 heart murmur and a grade 2 luxating patella. No medications are needed at this time. The vet suggested a joint supplement to help with the patella issue. His fosters are also doing some in-home physical therapy to strengthen his core and keep him flexible. He balances his front legs on a ball and does crunches and stretches. He is very food motivated so they are using tiny bits of baked chicken breast to go through the motions.

He has been left alone for around 4 hours without incident. The fosters leave the TV on for company. Pumpkin enjoys lying on the sofa and watching TV. He is a pleasant, quiet companion pup with a great disposition. He does not have any bad habits. He’s a sweetheart who just needs a patient owner that is a homebody like him!
