Ridgeley in Annapolis, MD
Update 9-16-25: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more applications for now. Thank you!
Hi there! My name is Ridgeley, and wow, have I been on the biggest adventure of my life!
Not too long ago, I lived at a commercial breeder where my only job was – well- being handsome. Then one day my world changed. My fur was shaved, I rode in a bunch of cars, and suddenly, I was in a house! With all kinds of smells to sniff. I wanted to make it smell like me, but my foster mom says that’s just for outside. Don’t worry, I’m a quick learner and I really want to be a good boy.
I also learned about this funny thing called a leash. I didn’t understand what that was all about, so I just sat to be a good boy. But after a few times I noticed my foster sister and thought, “Ohhh, so we’re supposed to walk!” And now I know walks are fun! I get to meet big people and little people and other dogs. I get a little nervous with big dogs and when new hands come toward my head, but I’m learning it means gentle ear rubs, and they feel really nice.
Want to know my very favorite thing? Laps. Ohhh, laps are the best invention ever! I don’t know how to jump on furniture yet, but when my foster mom or dad picks me up, I snuggle in, close my eyes, and relax for a snooze.
I also discovered toys! Soft ones, squeaky ones, round ones; I couldn’t believe it! The first squeak startled me, but then I realized I was the one making the noise. How fun is that? And get this, there’s even a little springy thing near the doors that goes boing! when I tap it with my paw. I bark at it, just to show it who’s boss.
Life here is full of new friends and fun. My foster sister and I chase each other, then curl up for naps together. I’ve also learned about backyards, bowls (shiny and full of food—yum!), and hearing “good boy!” when I go potty outside. Best. Feeling. Ever.
A nice vet checked me over and said my heart is healthy and all my tests were good. I’m around 2-4 years old. I had a surgery so I won’t be doing my old job anymore, but that’s just fine by me. I like this new job way better anyway; it’s called being a furry family member.
Now I’m looking for my forever family, someone patient and kind who will help me keep learning about love, play, and home life. In return, I promise to be your sweetest little lap buddy. My foster mom says the best new place for me will have someone home much of the time, with a fenced yard and another pup as a companion.
If you think we might be perfect together, please fill out the online application if you haven’t already and then email Diane Lombardo at cavalierrescueusamdwv@gmail.com so she knows you’re interested.
See me in action: Ridgeley
