Say “hello” to River!

This sweet two-year-old Blenheim boy was surrendered to rescue from a Lancaster County commercial breeder, as he was not successful as a breeding dog.

River is happily enjoying his early retirement spending most of his time cuddling next to his foster Mom.

River is great with traveling, bathing and grooming.

He is house trained and crate trained, although he does not like to sleep in his crate at night. He prefers a small, cozy confined area to sleep in at his foster home’s bedroom.

River is a bit timid with new people and his surroundings, and will sometimes bark. He is fine walking on a leash and harness on a very quiet street, however loud noises and fast moving cars do make him nervous. He loves to explore the fenced in yard and has learned how to go up and down steps.

River is very cautious when eating and drinking, and can get easily distracted. It is best to feed him in his crate (or at least away from other dogs) so he can focus on finishing his meals.

River gets along well with other dogs. He would, however, also do great as an only dog, as long as he gets to spend a lot of time with humans.

He would do well with a family that that would continue training and exercise him. We are not recommending a family with young children, as River prefers a calmer, quieter environment.

River is up to date on his vaccines and neutered. He does not have any health issues and is at an ideal weight (12.5 pounds) for his body frame.
