Romeo in Derby Line, VT

Are you a retired or current ball player? Meet your newest teammate, and biggest fan, Romeo! A happy, playful, black and tan Cavalier with joyful brown eyes and impressive ball fetching endurance. Romeo is looking for his forever family to provide him with training, warm snuggles and endless ball throwing.

It is unknown when Romeo was born, but he is estimated to be around three to four-years-old. Romeo came to the rescue with little information from his past. It is clear he was exposed to very little in his early years. He was nervous with new people and needed reminders of how to be a dog, but has quickly came out of his shell. 

Romeo loves to play with his toys, play fetch and lounge on his back! A securely-fenced yard is a must. He is working on leash training and recall. If you have a ball in your hand Romeo will follow you around anywhere anytime. 

Romeo has started crate training and is doing well through the night with no accidents. Romeo likes riding in the car and enjoys running errands with his foster mom. 

Romeo is currently living with three small dogs, a husky, two cats and two human sisters, ages 6 and 10. Romeo gets along with everyone but may bark at new faces initially. Romeo is very interested in chasing cats, so a home with no cats is a must. Romeo loves his ball and will retrieve it the first and almost every time, even beating the six-month-old husky! Someone home to play ball with him is a must! He is working on his manners to not jump or guard toys and his house training.

To be successful, Romeo needs an owner who will positively reinforce him during training and be able to keep him on a consistent schedule. He has done well by watching and learning from his foster dog siblings. A person home for most of the day, or who works from home, will also be important. Children over the age of six are okay. Romeo will do best in a home as the only spoiled pup, or, possibly, in a home with a playful, calm, submissive dog who won’t mind sharing the toys.

Romeo weighs 16 pounds and is up-to-date on immunizations and preventatives. He will be microchipped and neutered on September 29th. Romeo had a negative fecal. He is being treated for a Lyme Disease infection but will complete his medication by October 7th. Romeo is heart clear and his knees and hips are good.
