Rosie in Dallas, TX
Meet Rosie, a 5-year-old (born 2/19/21) female Blenheim. Rosie is all things fun, energetic and loving. Her idea of a perfect day is getting in a long morning walk and then going back and forth between a cozy nap and playing fetch with her toys. She loves to snuggle up with you on the couch.

Rosie has a quirky personality – full of play and goofiness. She loves to lick her humans and give “hugs”. She has a hilarious habit of going forehead to forehead and staring at you as a sign of affection. She would be most comfortable in a home with someone around much of the time, as she has a tendency to get nervous when her human isn’t nearby. She may start to whine or bark if she gets the sense that she is going to be left alone.

Rosie came into rescue after her former family was no longer able to give her the care she needed. She came to us with a large bladder stone and chronic UTIs. While in foster, she had surgery to remove the stone, and we went to work to help her UTIs. Rosie had a vulvoplasty and now is testing negative for any signs of UTIs. Due to her history, the vet does recommend she stay on a prescription food and urinary supplement. She should also return to the vet for a urine culture every three months for the first year, moving to only culturing when symptomatic after that time. She has also been spayed, microchipped, up to date on core vaccines, and on heart worm prevention. She has a healthy heart!

Rosie is fully potty trained. She is also leash trained and can walk about as far as you’ll take her! She loves to sniff, greet other dogs and chase squirrels. Rosie is a bit overweight at 28 lbs, needing to lose just a couple pounds, so she should remain active with her new family with frequent walks and time outside.

She is very friendly with other dogs but showed a few signs of resource guarding food so any other pets should be kept separately just for mealtimes. Outside of this, she has proven to be a wonderful companion for her fur foster siblings. She is also fine with cats as long as they don’t take the attention away from her. She can get really excited with young kids and think they are a fun game of chase so if her future family has kids they should be over 10 years old.
