Roxy in Kenilworth, IL
Hello! My name is Roxy and I am looking for my forever home. I am a 23-pound female tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the sweetest face and most gentle demeanor. I was given to Cavalier Rescue USA by my breeder who wanted the perfect forever home to be found for me.

I am an 8-year-old (my birthday is 10-31-2018) very healthy girl; I have a good heart and good knees, was spayed and had a dental with extractions while in the rescue’s care. I am up to date on my core vaccines, heartworm, flea/tick preventatives and I am microchipped. I am still a bit overweight (but I’ve lost a few pounds while in my foster home!), so I need a family that is devoted to my continued weight loss journey with a healthy food, controlled portions and daily exercise. I am also currently on a joint supplement due to my weight and age.

I am a love bug who is looking for nothing more than a warm heart and lots of love! My tail literally never stops wagging as all I want to do is please and be near you. I have the absolute calmest temperament and have not barked or complained even once! With my calm and gentle personality, I am a loving companion who enjoys being very close to my people and soaking up all the attention I can get. I love all people, kids and dogs; I am not afraid to be pet by strangers who love how I wag my tail non-stop for them. I also have a calm way with new dogs of all sizes that I meet while out and about. I have learned so much from my foster brother (a black Lab) while in my foster home, so another dog – preferably a Cavalier since I tend to gravitate towards them – is a requirement in my forever home so I can continue to learn some of the basics. One of my most endearing qualities is that I am especially sweet with children and would love to have a family with calm, respectful, dog-savvy children.

I like to be anywhere my people are, especially my foster mom. I stay close but not underfoot, and remain where I can keep an eye on her and also my foster brother – who I get along with very well, by the way. I prefer not to be in a crate but will go in without complaint for transport. Actually, I do not complain about anything! My foster mom leaves me in her kitchen with my dog bed when she is gone and I am happy there. However, I do love it best when someone is home most of the day and I can keep my eye on them, so that is a requirement in my forever home.

I am working on housetraining and have made great improvements. When my foster mom is home and lets me out regularly, I have no accidents, but I am not as reliable when left out in the house when she is gone. I can hold it perfectly overnight and my foster mom lets me out first thing in the morning. I will sleep on a dog bed in the kitchen but would much prefer to sleep in the big bed with my favorite people!

My foster mom has been working with me on leash walking and I will only walk for short distances so far; this is something that my forever family will either need to work with me on or commit to exercising with me in the yard. I have recently discovered the joy of running after squirrels, so a safe, physically fenced yard is important for me to have in my forever home so I can continue to enjoy some off leash outdoor time.

I am an exceptionally sweet, calm, lovable girl who would thrive in a home where I can offer all the love I have to give – which is a lot!
