Rudy in Banning, CA

Meet Rudy,  an adorable 10-month-old Ruby Cavalier with a gentle, shy nature and a heart that takes a little time to unfold. He is a breeder release looking for a patient, loving forever home where he can continue to grow and develop at his own pace. Currently in foster care with several other Cavaliers, Rudy has benefited from following their lead and becoming more comfortable through the companionship of his canine friends. A confident, well-socialized dog in his new home would be a wonderful bonus and could help Rudy continue coming out of his shell while discovering the joy of being a beloved companion.

Rudy isn’t the pup who will immediately run up to everyone he meets. He’s naturally reserved and needs time to feel safe and comfortable in new situations. His new family will need to earn his trust while giving him the time, patience, and reassurance he needs to learn that he is safe. Once he feels comfortable, his affectionate side shines through, and he loves nothing more than snuggling with his people.

He’s a smart boy who knows his basic commands and is eager to continue learning. Rudy is potty trained using a doggy door and sleeps peacefully through the night. While in rescue, Rudy was neutered, brought up to date on his core vaccines, and microchipped.

Rudy loves toys and enjoys having things to keep him entertained. As a puppy, Rudy is still learning, so his new family should be mindful that he may occasionally chew on things he shouldn’t.  A secure, fenced yard is a must for him, giving him a safe place to explore, play, and continue building confidence. He will need additional leash training and consistent positive guidance as he learns to navigate the world with greater confidence.

Rudy isn’t a fan of car rides and is not quite ready to be a coffee-shop pup or frequent adventurer. His ideal home will understand that confidence comes with time and that he should never be pushed into overwhelming situations before he’s ready. A calm, predictable environment and a family willing to let him progress at his own pace will be key to helping Rudy flourish.

Rudy is the kind of dog whose transformation will be incredibly rewarding to watch. He may take a little longer to trust, but the love of a shy dog who finally chooses you is something truly special. Older, dog-savvy children may be considered. Rudy has not been cat tested.
