Sammy in Dallas, TX
Meet Sammy! Sweet Sammy is a 4-year-old (born 1/10/22) Blenheim boy who has the most sensitive, loving and fun personality. Sammy’s top priority is making sure his person is right next to him, often doing a dramatic “trust fall” into your arms. He is dedicated to being your shadow all day long and cuddling as close as possible all night.

Even though cuddles and belly rubs are his main focus, Sammy is also a ton of fun. He looks forward to his morning walks to sniff everything in the neighborhood and zig-zag around the street. He also frequently does “zoomies” around the house to show just how excited he is to be there.

Sammy life prior to us was as a breeder dog. We were told he was very shy, but as soon as he made his way to his foster’s house, his personality started to bloom. He has been very friendly to his (shy) Cavalier foster sister, being respectful of her space, while also showing her his loving, sweet side. He still gets a bit nervous sometimes when new people come to his foster home and may bark a bit until he knows they are safe, particularly if they are male. He is dedicated to being a little protector of his home and people.

During his time in foster care, Sammy received a thorough vet exam where everything came back normal. He is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on core vaccines. Sammy has done great on his potty training but may have an accident while in a new place and while transitioning to a new home. He doesn’t mind wearing a bellyband to prevent accidents when he’s exploring somewhere new.

While he gets along with other pets, Sammy would do best in a home where he can be the center of attention, either with a sibling that is lowkey or a solo animal. He has also done well with older gentle kids and cats. He does well in a crate, but much prefers to have his humans home and to sleep in the big bed at night.

After spending much of his life as a breeder dog, and likely in a crate most of the time, Sammy deserves the best of the best – a family that can give him much of their time and energy, whether that’s taking him on long walks for max sniff time or spending quality time cuddled on the couch together.
