Scrappy in Plymouth, MI

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is the pup with his new family…

Curious and cuddly, in a nutshell that’s this little 5-month old male ruby-colored Cavalier. Scrappy came into rescue when his family was no longer able to care for him. But they gave Scrappy a great foundation! He has very good house manners for a puppy, and a sweet disposition. He also has an amazingly shiny, soft-as-butter ruby red coat with a white patch on his chest.

He got the name Scrappy because he was the smallest in his litter, but he had the spirit of a fighter. He is curious, smart (knows his name and can sit on command), and easily meets new people. He likes to fetch a ball and take in new smells in the yard. Scrappy is learning to walk on a leash and enjoys the opportunity to explore new things.

During the day, Scrappy hangs out in an x-pen or on a doggie bed near his foster mom (who works from home). She takes him out every 3 hours for a potty break. He has introduced himself to the other Cavaliers in the foster home and is trying to get them to play with him. In the evening, Scrappy is the first dog to find the people lap and curl up. At night, Scrappy sleeps in a crate next to the people bed and he easily sleeps through the night without requiring a potty break.

Scrappy is microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He was given a clean bill of health by the vet. He will need to be neutered when he is about 9 months old. (The adopting family needs to agree in writing to have this procedure performed as a term of his adoption.)

The perfect fur-ever family is one that has someone home during the day to help his with his housebreaking and give him the love and attention a Cavalier needs. He is comfortable in a calm home environment, but will need regular activity like walks. Scrappy likes meeting new people and will do well in a home as an only dog or sharing the people lap with another young, small dog.

If you are home during the day and have a calm home ready for the attention required of a puppy, please complete our online application (if you haven’t already) and send an email to June Kirchgatter at June.cavaliers@gmail.com to let her know that you are interested in Scrappy. We will only consider applicants that are within a 4-5 hour drive from the foster family. You will also have to agree in writing to get Scrappy neutered when he becomes 9 months old.
