Tofu in Enfield, NH

Meet Tofu, also known as “Tofutti Cutie” in his foster home! Tofu was born on July 16, 2024. This petite puppy’s enthusiasm for life knows no bounds! He greets each moment with excitement and is always ready for his next adventure. He loves to flop in your lap for cuddles between rounds of chasing the ball or playing tug-o-war.

Tofu requires an active family who can give him a lot of attention throughout the day. He is good at playing on his own – he loves to play “soccer” with his tennis ball or throw his toys around – but he is constantly checking to see if you are paying attention. He has picked a favorite foster parent, but he is a pretty equal opportunity love-bug.

He would love to be with a person or family who regularly adventures outdoors and visits new places and friends. Tofu would also enjoy something like agility or flyball. Another playful dog in the house would be fantastic, but Tofu would be fine solo with plenty of interaction from his owners. His family must appreciate a lap dog who gives lots of kisses.

Tofu came to the rescue because his owners could no longer accommodate his high energy needs. Tofu was raised with a toddler and was very good with her. We would recommend, however, that he be placed with older children because of his enthusiasm and exuberance. 

Tofu knows sit, stay, down, and place, and is house-trained. He is currently learning leave it and drop it. We are also working on improving his recall – he knows what come means, but sometimes the world is just too exciting to listen.He is fed in a crate at his foster home as he occasionally tries to see what the others are eating.

Tofu is currently staying in a house with an older Cavalier, two cats, goats, and chickens. He is great with the older dog, though Tofu would love it if he were more playful. Tofu is learning to be respectful of the cats and does well, so he would be fine in a house with a dog-savvy cat, but not a frightened one, as he will chase. He desperately wants to chase the chickens, so he is not allowed to be free around them. 

Tofu is crate-trained and sleeps in his crate in his foster parents’room at night. He also stays in it if his foster family is not home or occasionally if he can’t be monitored. 

This little ball of energy needs a securely fenced yard for regular zoomies and loves to go on walks, though he is still learning to be polite on a leash. His foster home has a dog door, which he is learning to use, and he is great about letting you know he needs to go out.

Tofu is up-to-date on all immunizations and preventatives. He will be neutered while in foster care.
