Winston in Canfield, OH

Winston is a 9-month-old tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was born 7-19-2025. He is an 11-pound bundle of sweetness who is ready to find his forever home. He came into foster care when his owner realized she did not have the amount of time he needed.

 

Winston is full of love and he is learning every day that the world is a safe place. He is a happy, playful and affectionate little guy who loves toys, enjoys giving kisses and lights up when he gets attention from his people. Winston can be a bit skittish at times and may startle easily, so he will thrive in a calm, patient home where he is given time, consistency, and reassurance to build confidence. He is truly a sweet, loving boy who bonds deeply with his person. 

 

Winston has been fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. He does have some cardiac conditions that will require ongoing monitoring. He has a grade 5 heart murmur due to a hole in the muscle separating the lower heart chambers. At this time, his cardiologist does not recommend any medication, and there are no immediate concerns. He will need a recheck in 9-12 months. He also has mild valvular pulmonic stenosis, an inherited heart condition. Despite this, his cardiologist feels Winston has a good prognosis for the short and intermediate future, as well as potentially long-term, but this would again be dependent on if any progression is noted at subsequent visits. Because of his medical needs, Winston will require a home that can provide the time, consistency and patience necessary to support the ongoing veterinary care and monitoring.

 

 

Despite his diagnosis, Winston is a happy, active puppy who loves life. He is working on his house training and does best with frequent potty breaks, especially after meals and drinking. He sleeps peacefully in his crate at night and settles in very well once it’s bedtime.

 

Winston walks well on a leash, but would truly thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can safely run, play and burn off his puppy energy. He is learning to navigate stairs and is currently fearful of them. Winston enjoys “assisting” during chores, especially vacuuming.

 

More than anything, Winston is just a loving little boy who wants to be close to his people. He is affectionate, playful, and full of heart in every sense of the word. He may be small, but he has so much love to give to the right family.
