Winston in Noblesville, IN

Introducing Winston!  Winston’s world was rocked when his family of 13 years dropped him off at the shelter after they got a new puppy.  Understandably, he was confused being in this environment but Cavalier Rescue USA quickly sprung him from the shelter.

It was obvious Winston has seen some neglect. He had a rough few days with a visit to the Vet and getting a long overdue grooming. Even with everything he has been through, Winston’s sweet Cavalier personality is shining through and he’s remembering what it feels like to be loved again.

Winston was born June 15, 2012. At 28 lbs he needs to lose weight so he is currently on a diet. The only time he barks is in the kitchen as if he’s telling his foster mom she surely forgot half his dinner!

It’s a joy to see him digging through the toy box where he searches for a soft toy. After a quick game of fetch, Winston settles in for a long afternoon nap. He is able to navigate a few stairs to go outside but requires a little help up on furniture. Winston is a good boy and has not had any accidents!

Winston does enjoy being around the Cavaliers in his foster home. Another calm dog in his new home would be nice but he can also be an only pup. He’ll take a slow stroll around the fenced back yard but a fence isn’t necessary as long as someone is with him. He prefers being indoors.

Winston is crate trained but does not need to be crated when his foster parents are gone. He will sleep by the door waiting for his people to come home. He sleeps all night either in his open crate or in one of the dog beds. He rides well in the car laying quietly in a booster seat often falling asleep. He even enjoys a short walk in the neighborhood.

Medically, the Vet noted Winston’s condition is as expected for his age. He is deaf, has suspected nuclear sclerosis (cloudy eyes) in both eyes but this does not affect his vision, has a grade 3 murmur that does not require meds at this time. A soft mass was felt on his belly that is suspected fatty tissue. Teeth are grade 4/4 for severe dental disease. A dental was not recommended due to the risk at his age. His dental condition does not affect eating at all. He loves food!

Winston is in search of a family to cherish him in his twilight years. In turn, this sweet senior will make a devoted companion who will lay by your side and quietly keep you company throughout the day.
