Here is Dunee with his new sisters…
Hi, my name is Dundee! Yes, like Crocodile Dundee. I got my name from my unique Merle coat, just like Aussies have. I came into rescue very timid and afraid, but after settling in with my foster family I have quickly learned to trust. I am a very happy boy whose favorite game is fetch. I go crazy when my foster mom brings out a ball to throw for me! I have been getting along great with my two foster brothers. I even have two cat siblings too. At first I was curious about them, but I have learned they’re kind of boring.
I have warmed up quickly to my foster parents. I am what they call a Velcro Cavalier, where my mom goes, I go. I spend most of my day snoozing with my brothers. When my mom works from home, I usually am sleeping right at her feet or within a 2 foot distance. Whenever my foster parents leave the house, I do pretty well in my crate. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it all that much. My mom usually gives me a treat to persuade me to go inside, although I’d rather stay outside with my brothers.
Because my foster brothers and I love to snuggle, we all cuddle up close in bed every night. My foster parents have said I am a snorer but it’s okay because one of my brothers snores like a freight train so they’re pretty use to it.
Besides playing with toys and fetching my ball in my large backyard, I also love breakfast and dinner time. My foster brothers and I respect each others’ space and eat our own meals in peace. I am a little timid when one of my parents puts my bowl down but with a little reassurance I am learning that no one is going to steal my food.
I have experienced a lot of firsts with my foster family, one being learning to walk outside with a leash. This concept was foreign to me at first but with the encouragement of my foster brothers and parents, I am doing great on leash now. I have even come across some other dogs and I don’t mind them one bit. With each passing day I am learning to get use to different sounds and understanding that I can trust those around me. I still get startled here and there, but I know with time I will learn there’s nothing to be afraid of.
I am picking up quickly this whole “potty outside” concept and rarely have accidents anymore. I am let outside frequently throughout the day to go potty and am wearing a belly band inside for now, just in case. I don’t mind wearing it at all.
I am learning commands quickly and am very treat motivated. My parents say this is helpful for training purposes.
I haven’t met too many other humans but the few I have met, and I let them pet me. At first I am a little unsure and can even be really scared of strangers coming in the house, but my confidence is growing each and every day, and I have become quite comfortable in my foster home. I know it will be an adjustment when I go to my forever home but just like with my current home, I will settle in with time.
I would do best in a home with another dog or two with a similar temperament to mine. I am enjoying my foster brother’s companionship and really look up to them to follow their lead.
The vet said I am in good health. I had a minor ear infection when I came into rescue but they packed my ears and my foster mom keeps my ears clean. I walk a little funny and the vet said my back legs didn’t develop quite right due to living in a cage. They took an x-ray and said I just need to maintain a good weight, eat healthy and take a joint supplement.
My foster parents say I am a spunky little guy with a heart of gold. I play hard and love harder. I will keep you entertained and make sure you never go a day without cuddles. I am already loving this new life I have, and I cannot wait to find my forever family to enjoy it with!
