National Volunteer Month

We’re celebrating April as Honoring Volunteer Month!

National Volunteer Month has its roots in 1943, when Canada established National Volunteer Week. The United States followed in 1974, designating the third week of April as National Volunteer Week. Later, President George H. W. Bush’s Points of Light campaign helped expand the recognition to encompass the entire month.

Today, organizations across the country honor the invaluable contributions of volunteers in building stronger, more compassionate communities. As an entirely volunteer-run organization, we extend our deepest gratitude to every member of Cavalier Rescue USA—without you, this lifesaving work simply wouldn’t be possible.

Our rescue volunteers step in at a moment’s notice to bring dogs into our care. Foster families welcome them with love, making each dog a cherished part of their home until a permanent family is found.

Behind the scenes, countless others dedicate their time and talents to fundraising, managing our website and social media, coordinating veterinary care, conducting home visits, interviewing potential adopters, and so much more.

Nothing we do happens without our volunteers. They are the heart of our mission and the unsung heroes of rescue. This month, we celebrate them and the compassion, commitment, and love they give to Cavaliers in need 😇 ❤️.
