Rueben in Broken Arrow, OK

Here is the pup with his new family…

Hi, I’m Rueben! I’m a Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, born 3/25/24 and if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love cuddles. Seriously — snuggles, belly rubs, ear scratches, I’ll take them all. If you stop too soon, I’ll give you a little nudge (or maybe a tiny, playful nibble) just to remind you that I’m not quite finished with the love yet.

I came all the way from Illinois to Oklahoma after living in a not-so-comfy place, but now I’m learning how wonderful life can be. I’m still a little shy sometimes, but every day I get braver. I also really like running around in the yard and stretching out in the sunshine. Sometimes I even pretend I don’t hear you calling me back inside—because, well, the sun feels too good!

I have been to the vet and got a good report. I got neutered and microchipped and am on prevention for heartworm and fleas. I have improved greatly on my house training but need to be let out on a schedule. I am also comfortable sleeping in a crate.

I get along great with my foster brother dog, and I think I’d be happy in a home with other pups or just soaking up all the attention myself. I’m sweet, snuggly, a little stubborn, and very ready to find my forever family.

We had several qualified applicants wanting a dog like Rueben, therefore we adopted him to a loving family from our waiting list.

Lucy in Kenmore, WA

Here’s a picture of Lucy with her new mom…

Lucy is a female ruby Cavalier born on December 17, 2024. She came to rescue because her owners were unable to continue caring for her due to their own health concerns.

Lucy is the sweetest, cuddliest girl. She is slightly anxious but loves to sit on your lap and have a nice cuddly nap. While she prefers people over dogs, she doesn’t mind the dogs or cats that she knows. She’s done well with the foster family’s kids that are over 10 years old. She is nervous in the car, and when she’s worried, she will lay down on the ground and refuse to walk. She is learning to be a bit braver. She likes relaxed walks and playing in shallow water.

Her house training is a work in progress, but she’s getting better. She won’t go potty in her crate, but if not watched closely when’s she’s out, she may have an accident. When outside, she needs supervision to ensure she does her business. She prefers to be off leash in a fenced yard to go potty, and so her new home needs a securely fenced in yard.

Lucy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia after dislocating her hip twice in a row prior to coming into rescue. She had surgery with a specialist and has healed well. Although she does not use that leg perfectly, she walks, runs and plays mostly normally. She currently does not need physical therapy or surgical follow up, but she will probably always limp a little on her right side.

She is slightly underweight at 10 pounds. She is up to date on vaccines and recently spayed.

Lucy would do best in a home without too many stairs (both inside and to the yard), and with a person who can give her a lot of attention and help her be brave when she’s worried. Another calm dog would be nice but not necessary.
