Diesel in Indianapolis, IN

Diesel is a 5-6 year old Blenheim Cavalier who is looking for his forever home. Diesel came into rescue from a breeding situation. When he first came into rescue he was very nervous and unsure of how to be a dog, he did not know how to eat out of a dog bowl or drink water, what to do outside in the yard, use steps or car rides. Since coming into rescue and having his foster siblings teach him the ropes, he has absolutely blossomed. While in rescue he was neutered, had a dental cleaning was brought up to date on his vaccines and microchipped.

Diesel loves to play outside in the yard and chase his fellow Cavalier pack. He is completely trained to go potty outside and quickly learned how to use the dog doors, but he likes to always be able to see his person.

He is the cutest little goofball who loves to sleep on the couch and cuddle with his foster mom and siblings. He is very loyal to his person and foster siblings. He will seek out his person often for pets and loves a treat after potty breaks. He would do best in a home with another dog companion. Diesel loves to meet new people and is very friendly.

Diesel does well with a harness for walks but will not walk on a leash if attached at the collar. He does well in the crate but prefers to be with his uncrated siblings. He loves ice cubes and runs as soon as he hears the freezer door open. He does very well in the car and loves to look out the window from his car seat.

Logan in Greenwood, IN

Hi! My name is Logan, and I’m 3 years old. Everyone who meets me says I’m a very special boy. I have the biggest brown eyes you’ll ever see, and my foster mom calls me her cutie pie and goofball. I love to run around with a ball… until I get distracted by my own tail, which makes everyone laugh. I also adore standing between your legs so you can give me fullbody pets and scratches. I recently learned about the wonderful world of belly rubs!

Even though I’ve been “growing out” my hair for six months, it’s still short — my foster mom says she has officially given up on seeing it get longer.

I love playing ball with the neighborhood kids and do wonderfully with children of all ages. I have a foster dog brother and sister, and we have the best time together. Honestly, I’ve never met a dog I didn’t like. I tolerate the cat… or maybe she tolerates me. Sometimes I get a little too playful, and she decides she’s had enough. But I certainly don’t mind sharing my space with her. I am still working on leash walking. There is just so much to smell and do on a walk.

This past year was tough for me. In December, I was diagnosed with diabetes, and my blood sugar was not well regulated for a while. But with care and patience, I’m doing so much better now! I get insulin shots twice a day. I don’t love them, but I’ve learned to sit still like a brave boy. I must be careful after a lot of exercise, as sometimes my blood sugar drops, and then I require a delicious snack.

I can get anxious in new situations and I’m not a big fan of car rides — I always worry we’re going to the vet. I am potty trained, but when my diabetes isn’t well regulated, I may have accidents. I don’t mean to, and I try my best. I’m not a fan of belly bands, so I just need more frequent potty breaks during those times.

I would thrive in a home with an attentive owner or another playful dog. I need someone committed to managing my diabetes longterm. I never jump on furniture and prefer to curl up in my bed while my family watches TV. I’m usually quiet unless another dog barks — but I do snore loudly!

If you think you could be my forever family, please fill out an online application if you haven’t already and then email Sherry Morgan at morgans817@sbcglobal.net to let her know you’re interested. We are limiting his adoption to people who live within a 2 hour drive of Greenwood, IN and who have a fenced yard.

Lexi and Lincoln in Plymouth, MI

Sweet and Sweeter!

Meet Lexi and Lincoln, a delightful pair of 8-year-old Cavaliers who came into rescue when the toddler in their young human family developed a pet allergy. Lincoln is a 24 lb, happy-go-lucky Blenheim male. Lexi is three months younger and a sweet, loyal 18 lb. tri-colored female. Lincoln instantly loves every human he meets, while Lexi is a little more reserved when meeting new people. But her shyness doesn’t last long. In short order, she is trying to snuggle into your lap while Lincoln is covering you in kisses!

Both dogs are thriving in their foster home where there is a regular routine and three full-time Cavaliers. Lincoln has lots of wrestling matches with his 6-year-old foster brother. He also enjoys playing with toys and fetching balls. Lexi follows her foster mom everywhere she goes and has a tendency to get under foot. She also seeks quiet time in a corner when her people are working at their desk. This pair especially enjoys hanging out on the patio — taking in the summer breeze. They get very excited when they see their leashes, signaling it’s time for a walk!

They sleep in a crate next to the people bed and are gated in the kitchen when their foster mom runs errands. Lincoln has marked a few times in his foster home, which is common in dogs adjusting to a new environment. With their previous family, they moved several times and had accidents in the new home for the first few weeks. In the foster home, Lincoln wears a belly band so his foster mom can monitor his house manners. Aside from a few marking incidents, he is doing very well and Lexi has not had any accidents.

Both demonstrate some anxiety when there is a change in the routine. Lexi shows signs of anxiety of when her foster mom leaves the house. For this reason, we would like to adopt the pair to the same family—a family with someone home during the day. They are not siblings, so they get along very well — no littermate syndrome behavior.

Lincoln just got his teeth cleaned and had several extractions. He is at a good weight for his larger frame, but his fur-ever family will need to monitor his food intake and limit treats so he can remain at this target weight. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations.

Lexi just got her teeth cleaned. She is also at a good weight for her petite frame. Her fur-ever family should limit treats so she can remain at this target weight. She is spayed, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She has a herniated umbilical which can be felt on her belly. This doesn’t bother her, so the vet is recommending no treatment at this time. No heart issues were detected in either dog.

This pair would do best in a home where there is a routine and someone home during the day. If you are looking for dual, loving cavvies, this pair is for you! They have been a delightful pair while in foster care.

Please complete our online application (if you haven’t already) and then send an email to June Kirchgatter at June.cavaliers@gmail.com to let her know that you are interested in Lincoln and Lexi. We will only consider applicants that are home during the day and live within a reasonable driving distance to the foster home.

Belle in Indianapolis, IN

Are you looking for a true lap dog? Belle is 1 years old and was born 10/31/2024. She is a very sweet and tiny girl weighing in at just 9 pounds. She loves to be right next to you on the couch or curled up in your lap while you enjoy your morning cup of coffee.

Belle was recently spayed and also had “cherry eye” surgery. Her eyes will hopefully improve with time. With cherry eye however there’s always a 10% chance of needing a repeat surgery. She is update on all of her vaccines and has been
microchipped.

She is calm for the most part and doesn’t require much exercise. She does love to play fetch with her foster brother Finley.
She will do well with other small dogs, but it is not known whether she gets along with cats. She’s not good on leash because she is very afraid of loud noises. Without a secure fenced yard she must use potty pads. Therefore, a physically fenced yard is mandatory.

Belle is a very affectionate, smart and playful pup looking for companionship and someone that is home most of the time.

Piper and Magic in Lewisburg, OH

Meet Piper and Magic, a delightful bonded pair looking for a loving home together.

Hello, my name is Piper. I am 11 years old and was born January 6, 2015. I weigh 18 pounds. My color is Blenheim. I have a small thumbprint on my head between my ears. My foster parents can tell me and Magic apart by the spot. I have big, beautiful eyes. I don’t hear very well, but I follow Magic, my foster dog siblings and my foster parents around well. Magic and I were given to the Cavalier Rescue USA by our owner who had a change in family circumstances and sadly could no longer keep us. Our owner wanted a perfect forever home for us. She said that we deserve it.

I am a happy easy-going dog. Nothing bothers me. I am always wagging my tail. I love being as close to my foster parents as possible. I follow them everywhere. I sleep in a dog bed with Magic, in my foster parents’ bedroom. Occasionally, when my Aussie mix foster sister leaves the room, I will climb the doggie stairs and snuggle with my foster dad.

I’ve had my shots, am spayed, micro-chipped, and had two tumors taken out of my tummy that were benign. I had some dental work done and I lost all my teeth. My foster dad takes kibble and wets it and stores in the refrigerator. He warms in the microwave and smashes it with a fork for me to eat. I am housebroken when taken out on the schedule. My foster parents are home most of the time, so I go outside every 3 to 4 hours. Magic and I will take walks, but we are not that excited about them.

Hello, my name is Magic. I am also a Blenheim Cavalier. I weigh 19 pounds and I’m nine years old. My birthday is February 21, 2017. I am very close to Piper. When she left to go to the vet I cried and scratched at the door. I protect Piper. She needs me. Although, I am a bit more afraid of things than she is. I love to follow my foster parents around. I do well with my foster Cavalier that is here. I don’t do so well with the bigger foster dog. She’s nosy and always wants to know what everybody’s doing. She licks my head too. I will eat the other dog’s food, so my foster parents put me behind the gate to eat. I do growl if someone is eating a snack in the living room and I think the other dogs are getting too close to it. I am working on those things. My two favorite things are to be petted and sitting beside someone. I have all my shots. I have a low-grade murmur but not on any meds yet. I am micro-chipped and housebroken. Sometimes I wet on the patio instead of the yard.

For this pair, we are looking for a family where someone is around much of the time that has a fenced yard and kids over the age of 8 (if there are children in the family). If you meet all what we’re looking for and live within three hours of Lewisburg, OH. please complete our online application if you haven’t already and email Sherry Morgan morgans817@sbcglobal.net so she knows of your interest.
