Abby in Raymore, MO

Say hello to Abby – a pretty little Blenheim girl looking for her forever home. Originally from a commercial breeding facility, she was released to Cavalier Rescue USA. At first, Abby was unsure about her new foster situation. She has settled in now and is more relaxed with her foster parents.

Abby has learned how to jump up on the couch by herself and thinks this is just about the greatest place to be. She has become comfortable with her foster parents and likes sitting on foster dad’s lap while watching TV. She so enjoys being a lap dog, she’ll fall asleep on his lap in the evening. She wants to be held, and she isn’t scared about getting kisses anymore. Abby is quiet and sleeps through the night in foster parents’ bedroom.

Before coming to Rescue, Abby was unfamiliar with common neighborhood sounds. Any loud noise will spook her – such as a motorcycle, a loud car, or an air conditioner compressor turning on. For example, if she’s in the backyard at her foster home and a motorcycle goes down the street, she panics and runs back to the house. She has a fear of outdoor noises, especially at night and after dark.

She and her foster siblings go out together in the fenced backyard, and Abby has never had an accident in the house. Foster dad has walked her on leash several times, but she’s not a fan – at first, she would walk a few feet and then just lay down. After repetitive tries, she is walking on a leash with much improvement. Now she can complete the entire walk along with her foster sisters. However, she can get spooked by the sound of a big school bus (which may require a little comfort or being picked up) but then she recovers and will finish the walk.

Abby likes doggie toys and is a bit of a toy hoarder – something to keep in mind if there’s another toy-loving dog in the house. Besides being a toy hoarder, Abby is a shoe thief and quite proud of it. She will sneak into the closet, steal one of foster mom’s slippers and tip toe into the family room to put it in her crate. She may have a little separation anxiety but if she has those slippers, she’ll lay down on them and they will bring her comfort. She has also confiscated foster dad’s tennis shoes and socks. However, she hasn’t tried to destroy anything – she just enjoys the heist!

She had her spay surgery in August and has recovered and is doing well. Her heart & knees are good, she is micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines. When you first meet Abby, she is shy – though she becomes friendlier and more comfortable after her initial hesitation. This dog is an absolute sweetheart, and she will make a wonderful companion for someone.

Abby is being fostered in Raymore, MO. The ideal home for Abby will have a fenced yard with someone home at least part of the day. Another well-mannered dog in the house would be okay. Abby would prefer to have someone home with her most of the time while she continues to gain confidence. She’ll do well with a patient family who can provide a loving home. She truly is a gem.

If you can provide Abby with a loving home and you think you might be the right person or family for her, please fill out our online application (if you have not done so already) and then contact Deborah Barnes at deborah@smarnes.com to let her know of your interest. Applicants who live within a reasonable driving distance of the metro Kansas City area will be considered. Louis in Buffalo, NY

Hi, Louis in Buffalo here, looking for a place to call my own. I came to rescue when my mom’s health made it hard for her to care for me.

I am a tall, 22 pound, handsome Blenheim boy. I was a bit overweight but am at a good weight now. I have been walking a lot and doing Nosework (scent work) while here in foster care. The instructor and my foster mother agree that I am really smart. I love Nosework but any dog sport would be okay with me. I just need to be active.

I get along with my foster siblings and we all watch to see who will get to go to Nosework class when the long leash comes out. Lack of activity makes me bored and mischievous. I steal socks when I have nothing to do.

Some of my records say that I am 7 years old. The vet says no way. Activity level, teeth, eyes and a bunch of other things put me at closer to 5 years old. She says I am very healthy and have no murmur.

I sleep in my crate at night in my foster mom’s room with all my foster sibs. I like being with my family. I go willingly into my crate when my foster mom leaves home. We always get a treat when she leaves for more than a little while.

Everyone is my friend. I meet all, canine or human, with an enthusiastically wagging tail.

Being from Buffalo, of course I am a Bill’s fan. I would change my allegiance though if I could live with you. Go Bills!

I want my new home to have a fenced yard, active family, and one that will involve me in a dog sport, since I’m an active, friendly boy.

If that’s you and you want to adopt me, please fill out the online application if you haven’t already and then email rescue lady in charge, Michelle Farnum, at cavalierrescueny@gmail.com. Thank you!

Birch in Morgantown, WV

Birch is a four-year-old Blenheim male in excellent health. He is a big guy at 35 pounds.

He has been neutered and is up to date on all his vaccines. Birch gets along great with his canine foster sister and his feline foster sister. He loves to go on walks and play with his toys. Birch is very food motivated!

Birch came into foster care through no fault of his own. His owner had a recent change in life circumstances, and made the difficult decision that the best thing for Birch was a new home.

He was initially very timid in his new foster home, but in a very short time Birch settled into the household routine.

Birch is incredibly sweet and good tempered. He is always very excited to meet new people, and he does well with children.

His foster Mom and Dad are working with him to help him not to jump on people. Birch is just delighted when anyone comes to the door!

Birch is reliably potty trained and is microchipped.

If you are interested in Birch, please complete our online application if you haven’t already done so. Then email Diane Lombardo at cavalierrescueusamdwv@gmail.com so she knows of your interest.

Scotty in Greensboro, NC

Scotty is a very sweet 26 pound Blenheim Cavalier born September 16, 2019. He was welcomed into Cavalier Rescue USA after we were contacted by a local animal shelter for help. Scotty had been abandoned on a vet’s doorstep, so after his stray hold was up, he moved into foster care with us.

Scotty is a happy, energetic guy who loves everyone, two and four legged. He gets so excited when someone comes to visit.  He does have a habit of jumping on them while barking happily, which his foster Mom is working on.

He is housebroken if taken outside regularly and will go in and out a doggie door if one is available. He loves to venture out into the fenced back yard to smell all of the wonderful scents scattered all over by his foster siblings, birds, squirrels and whatever else has the nerve to venture in.  He believes he is the ruler of the backyard and will not allow anything to drop onto the yard. The poor birds and squirrels are on his radar and so is anyone walking by the yard. He will let them know he is on duty! He also tends to munch on objects in the yard, so his owners will need to keep a watchful eye on him.

Scotty’s tail never stops wagging! He loves to snuggle up against his foster mom for some one on one loving or will lay quietly either on the porch swing outside or the ottoman inside for a quiet nap.

Scotty currently sleeps in a 3 ft exercise pen at night and lets you know when he needs to go out to potty the next morning. He would love to sleep with his new humans though.

Scotty does need other dogs to be with when you leave the house. He does have some separation anxiety, which we are sure has a lot to do with him being abandoned. His foster Mom leaves music on when she leaves to run errands and at night. This has helped tremendously! His new owners will need to be committed to continuing to help Scotty overcome his separation anxiety.

Scotty loves to play fetch and tug of war! He would play day and night if you let him. It is his favorite thing to do besides laying right next to his foster Mom.

Scotty really enjoys feeding time. He knows exactly where his food bowl goes and will dance around happily barking until you put his bowl down in his pen. He is a very fast eater, so he is eating from a slow feeder bowl.

Scotty came into rescue with an ear infection in both ears, a very large hot spot, and intestinal parasites. This has all been cleared up. He was also neutered in our care and had a dental.

Scotty’s foster Mom has started to teach him to walk on a leash. He is not a big fan on someone holding him back from smelling everything, but with time and patience she believes he will start to enjoy it.

Scotty needs a home with a securely fenced yard, with someone home most of the day. He needs other like-sized canine companions, as well as an active family that can take him for walks and play with him. He needs an experienced owner that can continue to work with him on his separation anxiety, leash manners, and jumping and barking. With his jumping issue he should not be adopted to families with small children; older dog-savvy teenagers would be great for him though.  He has not been cat tested.

If you are interested in adopting Scotty, meet the criteria, and live within a reasonable driving distance to Greensboro, NC, please complete the online adoption application if you haven’t already and then notify Rescue Coordinator Angie of your interest by emailing her at nccavalierrescuemom@gmail.com

Jax in St. Louis, MO

Here is the pup with his new family…

Hi, my name is Jax! I’m a handsome, 2-year-old Blenheim Cavalierl boy born 3/13/23, and my journey has been a little different from most dogs my age. I came from a commercial breeder who was retiring, where I was used for breeding before I was rescued. Because of that, I didn’t get the chance to experience the love, play, and comfort that most puppies do when they’re young. When I first arrived at my foster home, I was very scared and unsure of everything around me.

I currently sleep in a crate, but would LOVE to snuggle in the big bed. My foster mom says I have been such a good boy and am reliably housetrained. She took me to the vet where I was neutered and had my teeth cleaned. YUK, not fun, but she said it was needed.

With patience, kindness, and a gentle touch, my foster mom has shown me what it feels like to be safe. Little by little, I’ve been learning to trust. At first, I would shy away and watch from a distance, but now I’m starting to follow my foster mom around, enjoy snuggles, and even wag my tail when I see her. I’m also learning from my foster siblings—watching them play has given me the courage to try joining in, and it turns out playing is actually pretty fun!

I’m still gaining confidence, but I’ve already come so far. Each day I’m showing more of my sweet, gentle personality, and I can’t wait to keep blossoming with a family of my very own. I’ll do best in a patient and loving home where I can continue to feel safe as I grow. With time and love, I know I’ll become the loyal, affectionate companion I was always meant to be.

My foster mom says: Jax has come a long way in a very short time. He is learning to trust people and know that we have nothing but love to give. He has been fully vetted, shots are up to date, his teeth were cleaned, and none were lost. He is now on a diet of good healthy food, and doing well. He is also on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Jax would do well as an only dog if there is someone home with him most of the day or with another dog in the house to help him learn how to be a dog.

If you’re looking for a tender-hearted boy who just needs a chance to shine, I think we’d be the perfect match. If you feel like Jax might be a good match for you, please complete our online application, if you have not already done so, and then email Sarah Noebels at Cavalierrescuesarah@gmail.com to let her know of your interest.

Riley in Washougal, WA

Here’s a picture of Riley with his new family…

Meet Riley – The Lovable Little Shadow. Riley is a sweet, silly little gentleman who’s ready to bring joy to a lucky home, whether that’s a cozy apartment in the city or a sprawling farm in the country. Riley is just looking for someone to love!

Riley is a 10-month-old neutered male with a clean bill of health. He’s up to date on vaccinations and microchipped, and he weighs about 20 pounds. Riley was surrendered to rescue by no fault of his own, but rather because his owners realized a puppy was not a good fit for their situation.

This pup is the perfect mix of polite and playful. He’s crate trained, potty trained, doggie door trained, knows how to sit, and comes when called (especially if you’re holding a treat!). He’s currently working on his leash manners. He starts out a bit exuberant but then settles in for a stroll. He’s getting better with each daily walk.

Riley loves everyone, dogs, cats, kids and guests. He’s on the submissive side and has a gentle, kind personality that makes him a great fit for just about any household. He’s affectionate with both men and women and always happy to be part of whatever you’re doing. He prefers to sleep with his head on your pillow, but he’s also a perfect gentleman in his crate. He eats like a champ (in his crate, twice a day like clockwork), and he gets adorably excited when you pull out the brush.

Riley’s favorite place in the world is wherever you are. This velvety-eared lovebug is ready to be your constant companion. If you’re looking for a loyal and sweet best friend, Riley is your guy.

If you’re interested in adopting Riley and live within a 2-hour drive of his foster home, please complete the online application (if you haven’t previously) and email Melissa Cincotta at happycavaliers04@gmail.com so she knows to consider your application.
