Henry in Enid, OK

Here is Henry with his new family…

Henry is a 9-year-old male Cavalier that was released by his owner’s family after health issues prevented him from caring for him. He is a bit overweight and has lost a few pounds with his foster since he arrived. Henry is a calm, sweet and loyal boy who will follow his person everywhere.

Henry was seen by a vet and brought up to date on vaccines, had a dental and lost 6 teeth, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He is healthy with strong knees and heart. He is neutered. He also has a microchip.

Henry enjoys respectful children and will run after a squeaky toy when thrown. He loves riding in the car to pick up the kids from school and is starting to walk in the neighborhood for exercise. His favorite place is on the couch, or next to his person. He has always slept on the big bed with his owner and insisted on that now. Apart from a little snoring, he doesn’t move all night.

Henry is house and crate trained. He will go in the crate when left alone periodically and when strangers (like repairmen) enter. He is protective of his person and will bark at new people. Otherwise, he is very sweet, gentle and loving. He is fine with other dogs but has been an only dog all of his life.  He prefers a quiet routine as the only dog.

We have a qualified applicant who has fallen in love with Henry and he has been adopted.

Bellamy in Mt Juliet, TN

Update 5-19-26: We think we’ve identified a great adopter for this pup so aren’t taking more applications for now.

Meet Bellamy, a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul. She’s a gentle girl who can be a little shy at first – but once she realizes she’s safe, you can actually see her confidence growing day by day. Routine is her love language; knowing what’s coming next helps her relax and truly be herself.

Bellamy came to us from a commercial breeder and is more than ready to trade that chapter for a forever home filled with comfort and kindness. When she first arrived, she had a noticeable limp and was clearly in pain. X-rays revealed an old injury that couldn’t be repaired, and the best option was amputation. It sounds like a big, scary thing – but for Bellamy, it was life-changing in the best way.

Because of her surgery, she wasn’t able to have a dental cleaning at that time, so she will need this completed within the next 6–12 months. She is otherwise fully vetted: up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed.

Now here’s the amazing part! Bellamy has absolutely thrived as a tripod. Once that painful leg was gone, so was the thing holding her back. When she runs around the yard, you’d never guess she’s missing a limb. She’s fast, joyful, and completely in the moment. She’s even mastered using dog stairs to get on and off the couch like a pro.

She rides well in the car, though she feels most secure in a crate or an elevated car seat since the motion can throw off her balance a bit. While she doesn’t spend as much time in her crate now that she’s healed, it’s still her cozy safe space (and her designated dining room, as she’s very interested in everyone else’s meals!).

Bellamy will need a securely fenced yard as she continues to learn leash walking. She’s making progress, but she’ll need a patient, encouraging human to keep building her confidence. She’s already been practicing outings to dog-friendly patios and breweries, and she does beautifully, quietly tucked under the table, taking it all in like a polite little observer. Bonus: she’s tiny and very portable.

One of the biggest ways Bellamy has blossomed is by watching other dogs. She looks to them for cues, comfort, and confidence – and when she meets a new dog, her whole body wiggles with excitement. It’s the cutest thing. Because of this, she would do best in a home with another friendly dog who can show her the ropes and share in some snuggles.

As for cats, she’s met a couple of feral ones in her foster home. She was curious, but respectful – happy to observe without causing a fuss.

Bellamy is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart. She doesn’t demand attention, but once she trusts you, the bond you’ll build with her is something really special.

If Bellamy sounds like your kind of girl, please complete our online application (if you haven’t already) and then email Liz Nigh at lizcavalierusa@gmail.com to express your interest.

Barley in Fletcher, NC

Meet Barley, affectionately called Barley Corn!

We’re not quite sure exactly how old he is, but the vet thinks he’s about four. We also don’t know much about his background other than that his owner became ill, and Barley was bounced around quite a few times before landing in rescue.

Barley is a sweet, happy, active pup who is looking for his forever home. On top of being bounced around, Barley did not receive proper vetting and socialization in any of his former homes.

Since arriving in rescue, he’s been brought up to date on vaccines, treated for intestinal parasites, started on monthly heartworm prevention, neutered, microchipped and had his teeth cleaned.

Barley has a mild heart murmur, which does not currently require meds. He also needed a short course of pain meds for tweaking his back.

He seems to be doing just fine now and runs, jumps and plays with no issues at all!

Barley is shy of new people, but once he gets to know you he will stick with you, and by that he is a true velcro dog. He gets along fine with his two foster brother Cavaliers, but taunts the feline in foster home.

He’s also quite happy to interact with the larger dog that lives next door, as well as the neighbor’s children.

Barley loves to go for brisk leash walks, as well as run off leash around in the fenced yard chasing squirrels and rabbits. He does require a securely fenced yard, and at just under seventeen pounds, he is small enough to fit between the standard pickets of a wrought iron fence.

Barley naturally has some separation anxiety after being moved several times, and does not like is being left alone. He will bark when you leave, but soon quiets down. He doesn’t like to be crated, but tolerates staying in a large x-pen.

Having someone home most of the time, as well as having another dog in the home to keep him company, will help Barley to feel secure. His new owners will need to be patient with Barley and help him overcome his separation anxiety.

As a result of the intestinal parasites, Barley was very underweight on intake, but has slowly gained weight eating a high quality diet of mixed wet and dry food, along with probiotics to heal his gut. His intake weight was 16.4 pounds. At his last weigh-in, he was 17.8 pounds.

Because of the parasites, along with his anxiety, Barley can be a finicky eater. Patience and consistency will be needed from his new owner when establishing Barley’s feeding routine in his new home.

Because he wasn’t neutered or trained, he would attempt to mark in his foster home, so his foster Mom uses a belly band when he is indoors. He’s made great strides in regards to his marking and potty training. The marking behavior stopped as he began to feel secure, but may occur in a new environment.

Barley is looking for a home with someone who is absolutely committed to patiently working with him and providing him with a safe, secure and permanent home. His new family needs to be understanding of his past.

While he’s not always a fan of all car rides, barks sometimes when left, might not want to eat every single meal, he does absolutely know how to love and be loved!

He loves to play with balls and other toys, and loves his foster siblings. He quickly picked up on commands to ’sit’, ‘down’, and ’door’ (to teach him not to run out of an open door). He’s made big strides in foster care, so with the right, dedicated owner, we know Barley can continue to gain confidence, and learn how to be a happy, balanced guy!

If you think you are able to provide Barley with the home he needs and live within a three hour drive of Fletcher, please fill out the online application if you have not already done so. Then email Angie at nccavalierrescuemom@gmail.com and let her know of your interest in Barley.

Chloe and Piper in Tulsa, OK

Here are the pups with their new mom…

We are Chloe and Piper, 3-year-old girls that came to rescue from an overcrowded breeding facility with very minimal human contact. We were very timid and scared at first but have made great progress after realizing there is love (and treats!) with them. We found that when the girls were put together, they progressed quickly, giving each other more confidence and better overall adjustment. It is important that they stay together so we are offering them as a pair.

Chloe is the sweetest, cutest girl with that magazine cover quality Cavalier face and markings! If you’re lucky, she’ll come up and kiss your face so long as you don’t try to put a leash on her at the same time! She loves a schedule, does not jump on furniture, can work a doggy door, and is perfectly potty trained – never had an accident! She also sleeps like a champ through the night on a doggy bed on the floor in her own room with her friend Piper and other dogs around her. She is not ever locked in a crate, but she does enjoy going into an open-door crate to rest or get some alone time.

Piper is the sweetest, calmest petite little girl with that quintessential regal Cavalier disposition! Her favorite treat is a turkey tendon, and she’ll take that right out of your hand any day! Piper is the PERFECT house guest. She never barks, she loves a schedule, does not jump on furniture, and is perfectly potty trained – never had an accident! She also sleeps through the night on a doggy bed on the floor in her own room with her friend Chloe. She is not ever locked in a crate, but she does enjoy going into an open-door crate to rest or get some alone time.

The girls are up to date on all vaccinations, are microchipped, spayed, and on preventative for heartworm and fleas. Piper had a serious uterine infection and was spayed immediately. This probably saved her life. She is still a small girl at only 10 pounds, but she is smart and learning new things rapidly! They are heart clear and structurally sound with good hips and knees. They had their teeth cleaned and were treated for ear infections.

Chloe LOVES being around other friendly dogs but is still learning to trust kids and people. She has not been exposed to cats, but she has been around reactive bossy dogs, and does very well. She does not react to other dog’s growls; she simply walks away without engaging. Her favorite thing in the whole world is…FOOD! She will eat out of other dog’s bowls too if you let her – nom nom nom is her middle name! If you have patience and can appreciate the poor beginning this girl had, you’ll reap rewards of providing such a cute sweetheart with a wonderful safe home for the rest of her days.

Piper LOVES to sit on a soft doggy bed with a raised trim to rest her head and watch all her loyal royal subjects pass the time. She is the lowest maintenance dog we have ever known. She eats when it’s dinner time, she potties when you let her out, and she goes right back to her bed to sleep the day away. She has not been exposed to cats, but she has been around reactive bossy dogs and does very well. She does not react to other dog’s growls; she simply walks away without engaging. If you have patience and can appreciate the poor beginning this girl had, you’ll reap rewards of providing such a precious low maintenance sweetheart with a wonderful safe home for the rest of her days.

This delightful pair has just been adopted to a great applicant from our wait list.

Monroe in Rogersville, MO

Here is the pup with his new family…

Meet Monroe! Monroe is a three-year-old Blenheim, sweet-natured, easy-going boy who loves to cuddle. Monroe’s birthday is March 5, 2023.

Although Monroe was rescued from a breeder where he didn’t receive the care and attention he deserves, he has a heart full of love.

He loves being a member of the family and playing with his Cavalier housemates. He loves his ears scratched and lots of cuddles.

Monroe is an active dog who plays with toys, chews on bones and chases balls. Anytime you squeak his toy, Monroe comes running! Toss a ball and he happily goes after it, and brings it back to you, repeatedly!

Anything can be a toy to Monroe, including personal items from the laundry basket. He doesn’t chew on them. He just likes to embarrass you by leaving them in the living room.

Monroe’s happy place is around people, and he does bark in protest if left him by himself. However, the complaining only lasts for a few minutes and then he settles down. Monroe wants you to know he would rather not be left behind!

Sometimes his foster Mom will give him a yummy treat or bone with peanut butter to lick when she leaves the house. In this case, there is no protesting from Monroe. He loves treats!

During quiet times, Monroe is a snuggler and nestles as close as he can to you. If he cannot get close, he will find a spot to lay down next to you. At bedtime, Monroe goes willingly into a crate and sleeps all night.

In the morning, he enjoys a snuggle in bed. He knows how to use the doggy steps to get up on the bed, and doesn’t hesitate to climb them if it means curling up with his foster Mom.

Monroe is a quick learner who will come when called and walk politely on a leash. However, the outside world is still new to Monroe and he may be a bit skittish when he encounters something new.

Monroe has a high food drive and wants to please, which will make training easier. If a correction is needed, Monroe responds well to a firm voice. He promptly stops what he is doing and looks to you for direction.

Monroe is potty trained and reliable on a schedule. He can be trusted for up to four hours inside. Accidents in the house are rare. However, a regular schedule and supervision are necessary while Monroe acclimates to the household routines of his forever home.

Monroe is healthy, weighs sixteen pounds and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is microchipped, neutered and had a dental cleaning.

At the time of his surgery, Monroe had an ear infection, and subsequently completed a round of antibiotics. His heartworm test was negative, and he is on a monthly preventative for ticks, fleas and heartworm.

Monroe will make an ideal companion for active individuals and families who have the time to devote to him. Monroe will do best in a home with established routines and another easy-going dog.

If you can provide Monroe his loving home, please fill out our online application if you have not already done so. Then email Sarah at cavalierrescuesarah@gmail.com to let her know you are interested in Monroe.

Abby in York, PA

Meet Abby, a sweet 7-year-old female Blenheim King Charles Cavalier Spaniel who is looking for her forever home. She spent her life as a breeding dog on a commercial farm in Lancaster County. Abby is loving and playful. She is super soft and loves being petted, having cuddles on the bed or couch and being able to run free in the yard while barking at passersby.  She loves belly rubs and ear rubs and is friendly and eager to love and be loved.

While in foster care she became housebroken, was spayed and was microchipped. She loves chewing on bully-sticks, the longer the stick the better and loves snacking on crunchy treats. She loves having plushy toys that she can carry around like her babies and collect into her bed.

Abby is housebroken if taken outside regularly, especially right after mealtime. She does well in her crate for a few hours but is used to being home with someone all day. She sleeps in her crate in her foster parent’s bedroom at night but would of course love to be allowed on the bed instead.

She loves to run free in a secure fenced-in yard. Abby does well on car rides and walks well on a leash if other strangers/dogs are not around. She is still getting used to being around other dogs. She does well with her foster brother and sister but will need some time, supervision and guidance around other dogs. She has also done well around the cats in the foster home. She does good around children as young as 8 years old, any younger is not known.

If you are interested in Abby, please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then email Tracey at Doodlebug4197@yahoo.com so she knows of your interest.
