Harriet in Burien, WA

Here is Harriet with her new mom…

Meet Harriet – Our Sweet & Sassy Senior Lady! Harriet is a 9-year-old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a gentle soul and a quietly confident charm. Her coat was clipped very short just before she came into rescue, but her soft ears and beautiful feathering are starting to grow back in nicely—just like her sense of comfort and security.

She’s settling in wonderfully with her foster family and continues to impress us with her steady, adaptable nature. She’s eating, sleeping, and pottying like a pro (A+ across the board!). While she can be a little cautious at first, once she feels safe, she opens up and shows her affectionate, playful side.

Before coming into rescue, Harriet wasn’t fed regularly—if at all—which has made mealtime an exciting event for her. Now, she eats with gusto! She’s fed separately from the other dogs so no one has to share against their will, and her foster family stays nearby while she eats, which she finds reassuring. She gets especially excited for treats and can be a little grabby when taking them, but her foster family is working with her on this and believes she’ll become more patient and gentle as she learns that she’ll never miss another meal.

She’s not a fan of stairs (her foster family carries her when needed), but she will easily jump up onto a couch or an available lap.  Harriet loves attention, belly rubs, and cozy naps—all of which are now part of her daily routine, and frankly, non-negotiable.

While she’s mellow and easygoing, Harriet also has a playful streak. She loves her walks, chases toys, and will challenge other pups for a favorite ball. She’s a confident female—not shy about setting boundaries with other dogs—but she’s never aggressive. She enjoys gentle children and gladly accepts pets from friendly strangers during outings.

Harriet is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She had a dental while in rescue to treat severe dental disease, and now she eats softened food since she only has a few teeth left. She takes daily medication for mitral valve disease (common in Cavaliers), but she currently shows no symptoms and has plenty of pep. She also has a cataract in one eye, but this doesn’t seem to bother her.

Whether you’re in a crowd or enjoying a quiet night in, Harriet is an easygoing companion who’s happy to adapt. She sleeps fine in her own open space but would be thrilled to share your bed (and she doesn’t even snore!).

If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s been through a tough chapter but still greets life with joy and trust, Harriet may be the perfect fit. She’s ready for her forever home, the one where mealtimes are guaranteed, love is endless, and the snuggles are mutual.

If you think Harriet would be the perfect addition to your family, and live within a reasonable distance to Burien WA, please complete the online application (if you haven’t already) and email Cynthia Kastner at cseakastner@gmail.com to let her know you’d like to be considered.

Teddy in Boston, MA

Update 6-25-25: We think we have found a great home for Teddy, so we are not accepting anymore applications at this time.

Teddy is an enthusiastic four-year-old male Blenheim with lots of love and affection to give to a new home. Teddy was given to rescue due to a lifestyle change for his previous owners, and he has warmed up to his foster family very quickly.

He will take a little time to come out of his shell, but will surely become fast friends with his new family. Teddy enjoys daily walks, play times, long naps, and plenty of time with his person.

Toys are one of Teddy’s favorite things. He is always ready to play with stuffed animals, balls and tug ropes. He has also enjoyed playing with his foster family’s Cavalier. While Teddy is okay with a small dog, another dog is not necessary in his new home.

Teddy has enjoyed a nightly play routine. His new family should enjoy engaging him with plenty of toys. Teddy also really loves the beach and swimming in the ocean, and will happily dive in to retrieve his ball.

Teddy would do best in a calm home without children. Teddy can be reactive to larger dogs and new people coming into the home, and struggles to calm himself in these scenarios. Teddy’s ideal home will not include regular comings and goings of new people. He is currently working on these reactions, but his future family must be willing to work with a trainer to help Teddy cope with new dogs and people. Teddy needs a patient owner who will be committed to helping him feel less anxious with his triggers.

Teddy has proven to be extremely well potty-trained, and has never had an accident. He is able to go on his own in the yard or on a leash. A fenced yard, while a bonus, is not required.

Teddy is working on crate training, and can now successfully sleep through the night in his covered crate. Teddy can be left in a secure location in the home while his foster family is out. When left or crated he will bark, but has learned to eventually settle.

Teddy is in good health. He is heart clear, and up-to-date on immunizations and preventatives. One knee has a grade 2/4 luxating patella, but no action is needed at this time.

Teddy enjoys his twice daily walks and ample toy time, which have both been helpful in his weight loss journey. The vet has recommended Teddy lose another ten pounds. His future family must be committed to his weight loss by keeping him active and on an established diet. (Teddy eats two meals a day at specified times.)

If you are interested in adopting Teddy, please complete our online application. Then express your interest in Teddy by emailing Barbara Blanchette at blanchettebarbara06@gmail.com. Please be sure that you meet Teddy’s requirements as outlined in his profile.

Bandy in Republic, MO

Here is Bandy with his new mom…

Meet Bandy: An adorable 1.5 year old Blenheim Cavalier looking for his forever home.

Bandy was born on November 2, 2023 and was given to rescue by a Good Samaritan. Bandy is a calm and snuggly pup that enjoys going for daily walks, carrying around his toys and playing with his foster dog siblings. He loves exploring outside, so he would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard. He currently uses a dog door and is working on becoming potty trained.

Bandy enjoys going for car rides and has great manners when going to new places. He is a little timid when you first meet him, but warms up quickly. He is in excellent health and has been neutered, microchipped and is current on all vaccinations as well as his heart worm and flea/tick preventatives. Bandy loves meal time, but does have a sensitive tummy, so feeding him a dry food for sensitive stomachs is ideal.

Bandy isn’t a fan of thunderstorms, so you may find him hiding behind a pillow during storms. He also doesn’t like being left alone, so you may hear his adorable howl if you step outside without him.

Bandy has a beautiful coat and is quite a handsome guy. He needs a gentle and loving forever home!

If you are interested in Bandy, please complete our online application if you haven’t already, then email Sarah Noebels at cavalierrescuesarah@gmail.com so she knows of your interest. Thank you!

CJ in Kenmore, WA

CJ is an 11-year-old female Blenheim Cavalier. She’s a sweet, gentle soul and looking for a special person/family to show her kindness and unconditional love. Sadly, before coming into rescue, she hadn’t had either for a long time and was very mistreated.

CJ spends most of her time resting in her kennel, but she really perks up when out exploring in the yard. This sweet girl likes gentle head and neck scratches, but she doesn’t seek out attention. She likes short walks around the neighborhood but needs you to carry her outside to get started. A lot of things are scary for CJ, and so she’s happiest at home where it’s quiet and she feels safe.

CJ has been gaining weight and is feeling better since getting much-needed dental work done. She’s been diagnosed with a grade 5 heart murmur by the cardiologist and started on a twice daily heart medication (pimobendan). She was recently started on the medication ursodiol after an incidental finding of biliary mineralization on thoracic radiographs. She’s a small Cavalier and weighs about 14 lbs. Her beautiful Cavalier coat is growing back in and she’s looking much healthier. She’s house trained with regular breaks and will let you know she needs to go out by pacing around.

CJ will do best in an adult home since kids can be a scary for her. She needs a fenced yard so she doesn’t have to go potty on leash, and so she can enjoy her safe outdoor space. She’s looking for a special home with a lot of patience and people who understand dogs that are anxious and slow to trust. She’s okay with gentle-natured dogs of similar size.

If you’d like to welcome CJ (or both CJ and Brook) to your family, please complete the online application (if you haven’t previously) and email rescue coordinator Melissa Cincotta at happycavaliers04@gmail.com so she knows to consider your application.

Brook in Kenmore, WA

Here’s a picture of Brook with her new family…

Brook is a 12-year-old female Blenheim Cavalier. She’s a super sweet girl that is easy to care for and love. Unfortunately, she suffered a lot of neglect and mistreatment in her previous home, and she was also a breeder dog most of her life. She came to us a little shy but has opened up quite a bit. Her true Cavalier temperament has been coming out now that she’s feeling better and loved in her foster home. She really enjoys belly rubs and gentle head scratches and has even started joining her foster mom on the couch.

Brook is mostly house trained, but she should be kenneled if you are gone too long or taken out right before leaving. She doesn’t need much space but prefers to potty on her own in a fenced yard. She likes short walks, if you help her get started, and being outside exploring her yard.

While in her foster home, Brook had a much-needed dental for severe periodontal disease and was spayed. She’s looking much better after putting on a few pounds and her hair is starting to grow back too. She’s a little Cavalier, weighing 14 lbs, and that seems to be a good weight for her.  She has a grade 2 heart murmur but does not need medication at this time. She also has dry eye for which she takes prescription eye drops called cyclosporin.

Brook would love a quiet home where she can rest and relax in the sun with someone who will help her feel safe and loved for the rest of her days. No young children, though older, respectful, dog-savvy kids would be okay. Brook would be fine as an only dog or with another dog of similar size and temperament. Her ideal new home is a calm household with a family that’s easy-going, compassionate, and loving.

If you’d like to welcome Brook (or both Brook and CJ) to your family, please complete the online application (if you haven’t previously) and email rescue coordinator Melissa Cincotta at happycavaliers04@gmail.com so she knows to consider your application.

Mallory in New Hope, PA

If you’re the type of person who likes to plan ahead, petite, six-year-old Blenheim girl Mallory is exactly the Cavalier you need to save on your heating bill next fall and winter. She is a total snugglebug who wants to be with you all the time, whether relaxing on your lap or next to you. In every season, you won’t be able to resist her big, bright Cavalier eyes. Mal is quite shy and will build trust with a regular routine of tiny treats and a calm household. She is generally a mellow dog, and when she isn’t napping, she explores the fenced yard with her foster cat and dog siblings.

On leash in her harness she walks well, though she does take time to stop and smell the flowers, and lots of other things, too. She is friendly with other dogs, although she will bark at them if she sees them from inside her foster parents’ house. Occasionally she gets a little zoomy and plays with a toy or a tennis ball or chases a moth in the yard. Presently she sleeps at night in a crate in her foster parents’ bedroom, but her foster mom and dad are sure she would enjoy sleeping in the big bed.

Mallory was released by a Lancaster County breeder into rescue. In foster care she was vetted and is heart clear. She has been spayed and had a dental during which she had 16 teeth removed. You might notice the cutest little underbite or Elvis-ish snarl. She may have some hearing impairment but at a certain volume, she does hear her name. Like a lot of Cavaliers, she has a good appetite and will gobble her kibble and wet food – in fact, breakfast and dinner are her two favorite times of day, so her foster parents are careful not to overfeed as she is at just the right weight at 12 pounds. Mallory had a seizure like episode in the car shortly after she was picked up from the farm. She immediately saw the vet and was noticed to be stressed and had high blood pressure but her blood work was normal. She was put on blood pressure medication and was weaned off of it in reacue and no other seizure like behaviors were seen. The veterinarian thought it was isolated stress related incident.

She is still fine-tuning her potty training but has made steady progress. Rainy days aren’t her favorite, so some extra effort is needed to help her focus on pottying on those days. You have to watch to make sure she does her business. Car rides, baths and brushing are a-ok with cute-as-a button Mallory. As long as her human is nearby, she’s content.

Mallory would do best in a calm home with no kids or older kids preferred. She is not the leader of the pack but likes to see out the other dogs in the house so another small dog as a companion would be preferred.

If you think you will be a good fit to be a family for Mallory, please make sure you have an updated application on file and email Melissa MacMullin (cavalierrescueusapa@gmail.com) to let her know you want to be considered.
