Bluey in Woodland, CA

My name is Bluey because I have one blue eye, but my foster mom thinks I’m more of a little Pixie. I’m a tiny, 3 year old, tricolor girl. I had a rough start in life, but boy, do I like my new path. When I first arrived I found comfort and safety with my Cavalier foster sisters. However, from day one I discovered the sofa and it is my new favorite place.

I’m very curious, and getting more confident around people every day. I’m deaf, but with my foster sisters you would never know it. I would do best in a home with at least one other dog that likes to cuddle. I’m 100% reliable when I have access to a doggy door or let out every couple of hours. I enjoy car rides and sunning on the deck.

I’m a tiny pint of a Cavalier at only 11 lbs, but I have tons of love to give. I will need a family who is home most of the time and that will continue with my training with hand signs. I was recently spayed and had a full dental and I’m ready to meet my new family.

If you can fill my wish list in a new family and live within a couple of hours from where I’m being fostered please completely fill out an application if you haven’t already and then let Sarah Knudsen, our Northern California Coordinator know that you are interested in having me move in with you. Poppy in Los Altos Hills, CA

Here is Poppy with his new family…

Hi! My name is Poppy. I’m a lov’in, gorgeous, tricolor Cavalier boy with a beautiful thick coat of fur. I’m a really happy, quiet little guy, with my tail constantly wagging. I’m being fostered with another tricolor Cavalier, that’s three years old. I like to play with his toys and chase him around the house. We really like each other and have become quick friends. I like to sit next to my foster mom on the couch and love to follow her everywhere she goes. I never let her out of my sight.

I go for two, one mile walks every day with my companions and I love it! I’m a very good boy on a leash and love being active. I’m a little shy at first around new dogs and new people but love meeting them. There are no cats or kids in my foster home, so I’m not sure how I will do around them.

I’m getting pretty good at house training but it is a work in progress and I need to be supervised inside. I’m crate trained, but I need reminders to go outside every few hours.

I’ve been neutered recently and had my teeth cleaned with no extractions. I have a mild grade 3 heart murmur with no heart medication needed for now. I also have an eye condition called Pannus affecting my cornea. While pannus is a lifelong issue, it is managed with eye drops every day. But great news! I’ve been seen by an ophthalmologist and my prognosis is very good. I can see extremely well and my progression will most likely be slow. Care is very simple and relatively inexpensive, managed with eye drops which I’m taking and will need for the rest of my life. My shots are all up to date and I’m microchipped. I’m a good eater too.

I need a family who is home most of the time who will enjoy playing with me and who has a securely fend in backyard. I’m a really sweet, easy going, guy and am ready for my forever family.

If you are interested in adopting this wonderful Cavalier and live within a reasonable driving distance to Los Altos Hills, CA please fill out an adoption application (if you haven’t already) and then email our Northern California Coordinator Sarah Knudsen at sayrahk@gmail.com to let her know of your interest.

Sven in Orangevale, CA

Here is Sven with one of his loving new family members…

Meet cutie pie, 1 year old, Sven! He’s part a recent breeder release to Cavalier Rescue USA. Sven is everything you want in a classic Blenheim Cavalier: he’s sweet, snuggly and playful, he is heart clear and overall healthy, he was recently neutered and is up to date on all of his shots, and he’s house trained (but still needs to be encouraged to go out every couple of hours).

Sven is a very sweet boy who is looking for a forever family. He weighs 13 pounds and is full of adventure, energy and Cavalier curiosity. He loves to run around in the backyard, but make sure it’s secure because he can find the smallest escape route.

He sleeps in a crate next to foster mom’s bed but would love to snuggle with his family on the big bed. He plays well with other dogs and really wants to be part of the pack. He got a good appetite and loves treats. He’s a bit shy with new people but warms up quickly.

Sven is looking for a lap to snuggle in. He needs an active family that will continue his training and take him for lots of walks. We think he would be a great family dog with older respectful children. He has not been cat tested. He would love to be a second dog in his new home to continue learning from. He needs a securely fenced back yard to curb his escape artist skills! You will need to live within a few hours drive to his location.

If Sven is your dreamboat and you can fill his wish list in a forever home please completely fill out an application if you haven’t already, so we can get to know you better. Then, email your interest to our Northern California Coordinator, Sarah Knudsen at sayrahk@gmail.com.

Gracy in Boise, ID

Here is Gracy with her new family…

Meet Gracy: A Sweet, Energetic Cavalier Looking for Her Forever Home! Gracy is a 2-year-old Cavalier born 01/15/2023. This pup has a heart full of love and a playful spirit! She came into rescue when her previous owner had to move into a nursing home. Now, this affectionate, energetic pup is looking for a family to call her own.

Gracy adores attention, loves to play, and gets the occasional case of the “zoomies”! She enjoys shaking and carrying around her toys and will happily chase them if you throw them.

Gracy is initially a little shy, but once she warms up, she’s incredibly affectionate. She has done well with older kids and other dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats.

Gracy is fully potty trained and knows how to use a doggie door but will need time to adjust to her new homes routine under a watchful eye. She enjoys her crate and considers it her safe space, especially when left alone. She does well on car rides and travels comfortably in her crate also.

This energetic girl LOVES to be outside and would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard. Gracy is quite the talker and barks at noises, critters, animals on TV, and other pets at the vet—so she’s a great little watchdog!

Gracy enjoys snuggling on the couch with her people and other dogs. While she sleeps in her crate at night, she would absolutely love to share a bed with her humans!

Gracy is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She does have COMS/SM, a neurological condition that can be common with this breed. She has been seen by a veterinary neurologist and is currently on two different medications to help with her symptoms. Her new home will need to be committed to consistent vet care to keep her meds adjusted to help her live her best life.

Gracy is a sweet, spirited girl who just wants a loving home where she can run, play, and cuddle. Her perfect new family would be with a family where someone is home most of the time, a fenced yard for our vocal girl, and another playful pup would be a bonus! Could you be the one to give her the forever home she deserves?

If you think Gracy is the perfect fit for your family, please complete the online application (if you haven’t recently) and then email Cynthia Kastner at cseakastner@gmail.com so she knows to consider your application. You can read about our adoption process at the following links: FAQ & Process.

Morty in Woodland Hills, CA

Here is the pup with his new family…

Everyone calls him Morty, the short nickname for Morton on formal credentials. He is a noble nine-year-old fellow who wants to be your best buddy, BFF, confidant, escort and loyal companion. His birthdate is 7/15/2015 and his wagging tail and loving eyes say he is still young-at-heart.

Morty was living a charmed life in his previous home, however, family medical issues compelled a difficult decision to entrust Morty to our care and to find him an ideal family for his golden years. Morty moved into his foster home and settled in quickly, as if he had been there forever.

Morty is mostly deaf, but he doesn’t know anything is amiss. He is learning hand signals for ‘Good Boy’ ‘Come’ and ‘Sit’. Deaf dogs tend to be expert at reading body language and cues better than most might think. Not being roused by noises ensures Morty sleeps soundly and rarely barks. He may give a little whine to communicate that he needs to be let out, or a soft bark if he thinks you should notice it’s feeding time, or if he spots the intruding gardener working outside.

What makes Morty happiest are the simple things in life; a treat, a walk to the park, a back scratch, belly rub, and outing in the car are the things that bring him joy. He is eager to start each morning with an outing to the backyard at dawn and will return to snooze until it is time to rise with the pack. He does a little dance with a twirl or two and twinkle in his eyes for the joy of breakfast. Food is his highly valued resource and diet management is key to keeping him healthy and fit. He is eager to go on leash walks, keep you company on errands and loves to curl up on the couch with the family for TV time. Morty is eager to meet new people and he is friendly with other dogs he meets on social outings.

Morty is current on all vaccinations and microchipped. He had a cardiology consultation recently and diagnosed with heart disease common to the breed. He was assessed at stage B2 by a cardiologist and started on a prescription medication to improve cardiac function.

Morty wants his golden years to include a loving human as a trusted and loyal attendant to provide him a home with relaxing and luxurious accommodations for daytime naps and a serene bed to be near his human at night (he prefers the foot of the bed but is also happy snoozing in a nearby dog bed). A secure backyard because he really enjoys exploring and sniffing around as that is what he is accustomed to, but he mostly likes to stay in the house with his humans. Morty’s potty reliability is impeccable. He will head over to the back door and give notice with a soft bark or whine when he wants to be let out.

Morty will be a faithful loving companion in a short time once you have gained his trust. If you think you are a good match for Morty and would like to be considered to be his family, please complete an online application if you have not yet done so. Then send an email with a note of your interest to Donna at d_beirne@yahoo.com. Applicants should be within a comfortable driving distance for a meet and greet in Woodland Hills. Milo in San Diego, CA

Meet Milo, a 9-year-old sweet and sassy Blenheim boy. Born 8/16/15, this energetic little guy may only weigh 15 lbs. but he has a big personality, hence one of his nicknames, Mighty Mousy Milo. This endearingly quirky yet cheerful pup came into rescue when his family could not manage his health needs long term.

Like so many Cavaliers, Milo’s favorite time of the day is mealtime and he does the cutest little twirl as he barks with excitement until his food is placed before him. Even though Milo knows commands such sit and down, they don’t always work to curb his enthusiasm.

Milo shares his foster home with two Cavalier foster brothers who have helped him adjust to new routines and schedules. They all get along well, sunbathing together in the yard or exploring the neighborhood on frequent walks. Milo has even become their vocal back-up singer, joining the barking brigade when there are loud noises, the mailman stops by, or just when he wants to let everyone to know his thoughts.

Milo is fully potty trained and alerts you when he needs to go out.

While in rescue, Milo has been to a specialist for his skin allergies which have greatly improved due to the diligence of his foster family. Medicated baths, daily medications for his skin and ears, along with a strict diet have all helped him feel better. Milo saw a cardiologist and started on daily Vetmedin for a Grade 3 heart murmur. Additionally, eye drops for Dry Eye are part of his daily routine. Milo is a perfect gentleman, sitting still when medications are administered. A six-month follow up cardio exam and as needed dermatology visits are necessary to ensure that Milo’s health continues on a positive path. Milo has limited peripheral vision so sudden movements cause him to at times be tentative in unfamiliar surroundings or when meeting new dogs. Milo is up to date on vaccinations and also had a dental while in our care.

Milo thoroughly enjoys car rides, especially if it means meeting new people and exploring in the park. He is an avid walker, has great mobility and is an excellent errand buddy. At home Milo loves to snuggle on the couch, resting on his person’s lap or just pressed against them. He sleeps soundly at night, reminding you he is there with gentle melodic snores.

In spite of all his medical tribulations, Milo remains cheerful and content. His resilience and tenacity are an inspiration and he is so deserving of a loving home in which to spend his golden years! Milo is eager to find a family with low alone hours and where he will become the center of someone’s world, showering him with their undivided attention. A home with a retired human or someone that works from home would be ideal. He will repay you tenfold as a loyal companion.

If you have room in your heart to welcome this very sweet, loving boy into your world, then please complete an online application if you haven’t done so already. Then email Nanci at nancigordon@gmail.com to let her know to consider you as Milo’s new family.
