Romeo in Summerville, SC

“Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”

This Romeo is most often found curled up in his foster mom’s lap — sometimes belly-up, happily soaking in massages and belly rubs.

Romeo is a 5-year-old Blenheim boy, born on 11/25/20. He is a sweet, gentle love sponge who will steal your heart simply by gazing into your eyes. He’s an excellent listener who adores everyone he meets — including other dogs and even cats. Romeo is happiest when his family is together. He thrives on companionship and also enjoys a good game of fetch!

Hopelessly devoted and eager to please, Romeo forms deep bonds with his people. He came to Cavalier Rescue USA after his beloved owner became ill and could no longer care for him.

Romeo would do best in a home with active owners who can include him in daily activities, or with someone who is home most of the time. Being with his family is what he loves most — aside from food and treats, of course!

He is housebroken with regular walks and will grumble at the door to let you know when he needs to go out. If his signal is missed, he may have an occasional accident. Romeo loves long walks, trips to the dog park, and outings to hardware and pet stores. He walks well on leash but may pull if he spots a bird, rabbit, or squirrel. A fenced yard would be ideal.

Romeo weighs 27 pounds and is in good health. His heart and hips/joints are currently sound. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Romeo does have environmental dermatitis and will require ongoing dermatology care to prevent flare-ups. Skin testing can help determine triggers and guide treatment, which may involve daily medication or a quarterly injection.  We’re looking for a family in close driving distance to Summerville to continue his care at his established dermatology specialist.  He will also need at least two baths per month using a high-quality anti-itch or oatmeal shampoo.

He recently had dental care completed, including the extraction of seven teeth. Romeo eats ½ cup total (combined dehydrated food and kibble) twice daily — morning and evening. During the day, he enjoys healthy store-bought treats along with fresh fruits and vegetables.

Ollie in Highland Park, IL

Hi, my name is Ollie! I’m a four-month-old English Toy Spaniel. My birthday is October 31, 2025.

I was surrendered to rescue by my breeder because I have special dietary needs, as well as the cutest little tongue that peeks out of the right side of my mouth. My foster parents think it’s pretty cute.

I have been to the vet for a thorough exam and I have a clear heart, sound knees and am up to date on vaccines.

I am a very healthy little boy! The vet said that my jaw lines up perfectly, but for some reason my tongue just pulls to the right. No worries, though, as no treatment or medical intervention is needed.

Due to my special condition, however, I am unable to chew any type of hard food. I have done very well on a puppy raw diet due to the texture and consistency. I love this food and eat it out of a large bowl (otherwise it gets all over my head!), and afterwards my foster brother likes to lick my face clean!

The vet also said that due to the anatomy of my tongue that I should not be neutered until I am twelve months old at the youngest, preferably closer to eighteen months old, due to possible complications with intubation.

Potty training hasn’t been high in my achievements yet because it has been too cold outside for me so far, but I’m very good at using the wee wee pads and have started giving my foster parents signals on when I need to do my business.

My foster parents were also concerned about taking me outside when I first arrived because I was so small (only four pounds), they were worried about owls and hawks trying to get me… so between those scary birds and freezing temperatures, pad training was a much safer option for me. My forever family will have to help me work on this skill, but I am a quick learner, I promise!

I am trained to sleep in a crate all night in my foster parents’ bedroom. I get SO excited at bedtime that I RUN into my crate (see video link above.)

Since my foster Dad works from home, I am used to someone spending time with me most of the day, so I would do best with someone that is home most of the time.

I love my foster brother and sister. I especially like to wrestle and play with my foster Cavalier brother.

It sure would be fun to have a dog to play with at my forever home! I like to snuggle up with my foster Cavalier sister, but she acts like she doesn’t really like me. I think she’s pretending …because who wouldn’t love me?

I enjoy meeting new people and I’m not shy at all. I love other dogs, toys, food and pretty much everything.

I’m a happy little boy! I love to give side kisses, and my goofy smile only hides the fact that I’m very smart and eager to please.

I like to “boop” my foster mom’s hand with my head. It’s our special little thing we do.

I’m looking forward to spreading my sweetness to anyone that will let me, and I’m hoping to find my forever home with you.
