Xena in Easton, PA

Xena is a happy 10 year old female born 10/01/15. She was given to rescue by her owner who had her since she was a 3 month puppy and sadly needed to go into assisted living. Xena adjusted easily to our home, likes her walks, has had zero  accidents in our home. She will signal when she needs to go out. On visits to relative’s home, Xena explores every area available like she lives there. She loves all people and children.

Xena can be reactive to dogs while on walks. At that time,  her usual pleasant pace can change to pulling and barking toward the other dog. She can have a similar reaction to dogs on TV! She hasn’t been exposed to another dog in the home, but probably would be fine with the proper introduction. We were informed she is cat safe.

Xena weighs 26 pounds and could stand to lose a little weight. She eats well, and you must resist overfeeding her, as she loves to eat! She can be a little beggar, but will give up, if ignored. She is in good health with no medical issues; just had a dental and is recovering well. It is suggested to use a wet wipe after poops, as she may do a carpet scoot occasionally.

She has been left alone for around 4 hours without incident. She will whine and howl for a short time when home alone, but does settle down after a while. She is crate trained and does well riding in the car. She enjoys laying on the sofa and watching TV. The best new home will have someone around much of the time and a fenced yard.

Xena is a wonderful, easy-going companion pup with a great disposition who has no bad habits or fears. She’s a sweetheart.

Patch in Rogersville, MO

Meet Patch! Patch is an energetic and playful boy who came to Cavalier Rescue USA through a commercial breeder. Our veterinarian estimated Patch is between 2 and 3-years-old. Since he entered foster care, Patch has had a much-needed bath, dental cleaning, and neutering. He is currently finishing a course of antibiotics for an ear infection. Otherwise, Patch is a healthy 15 lb boy. He loves to play with his Cavalier housemates, but he is shy and skittish around people. It is a brand new world for Patch, and he is learning to adjust to new surroundings, people, and experiences.

Patch appears to have limited experience with people and is learning to trust his foster mom. When she walks nearby, Patch takes a few steps back to keep her at a distance. Although he avoids being petted, he follows his foster mom around the house and eagerly approaches her hand for a treat. Patch also enjoys sitting close on the couch, but on his own terms. He jumps onto the end of the sofa and gradually moves toward his foster mom, joining her and the other Cavaliers, who are snuggled together. Initially, Patch slept in a crate upon arriving at his foster home, but now he sleeps on a bed in his foster mom’s room. He likes to spend time in the big bed before bed so we know he would ultimately like to sleep in bed with his forever family and other pets.

He potties on a schedule and has had only a few accidents since arriving in foster care. Patch has gradually adjusted to the household routines and has settled in nicely. Patch has discovered and loves squeak toys, balls, and chewing on bones.

Although Patch has shown improvement, he remains wary around people, avoids physical contact, and isn’t a snuggler. He hasn’t shown any aggression in his foster home. However, when his foster mom approaches to pick him up, he cowers and protests by barking or softly growling—more like a grumbling complaint. Yet, he offers no resistance, and once he’s in her arms, Patch is a perfect gentleman.

Patch will make an ideal companion for individuals and couples who have the time and patience to work with him, earn his trust, and allow him to move at his own pace. Since Patch is uncomfortable being petted, he is not appropriate for households with young children. He will do best in a home with established routines and another easy-going, calm, mature dog that can help Patch adjust to his forever home. Patch requires a secure, physically fenced yard.

If you can provide Patch with a loving, patient forever home, please fill out our online application if you haven’t already and then email Sarah at cavalierrescuesarah@gmail.com to let her know you are interested in Patch.

Finn in Pittsburg, CA

This big, handsome, Blenheim boy is Finn. Finn is a 6 year old (born 2/22/20), big and tall Cavalier at 29 pounds but he’s not fat, he’s just fluffy!

Finn was surrendered to us with significant allergies that needed attention. He was miserable with severe yeast infections in his ears and paws. While in foster care he’s had a dental and started cytopoint allergy shots, as well as treatment for his ear and paw infections to finally get some relief. He is a happy boy now! His new family will need to be committed to his allergy treatment and keep an eye on his ears for possible infection.

Finn loves people and loves his foster siblings. He is houstrained and doesn’t mind his crate for a little while. He enjoys sleeping in the same room with you and would love an invitation to your big bed. He loves walks but pulls some on the leash. He is really excited when he sees the leash come out. He knows he is going bye bye. Finn is also really good in the car. He loves to give morning hugs and sometimes will look at you right in the eyes and put his face next to yours to give big hugs.

Finn will do best with a canine playmate and a fenced yard is a must. He would love daily walks. He likes to play fetch in your home or fenced yard.  Low alone time is needed for him so you’ll need to either work from home or be retired to be considered.

If you can give this sweet boy the home of his dreams and live within a couple of hours drive from his foster home in Pittsburg, CA please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then send an email to Sarah Knudsen, our Northern California Coordinator at sayrahk@gmail.com
